Blurb (English)
«when the world ends / you and me still care» addresses care, solidarity, and access to medication within disabled or neurodivergent communities. Women in particular with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD or autism are often not diagnosed until adulthood—or not at all—due to stigmas that are widespread even among medical staff, and consequently do not have access to medication that can range from life-enhancing to life-saving. Consequently, medication is shared among those affected, whether because someone lacks access due to a lack of resources, the condition itself, or marginalization, or because medication is in short supply due to ongoing shortages. The Ritalin box, draped and decorated as a gift, symbolizes acts of care, solidarity, and love within communities.
The work is presented as an inkjet print – the original object was gifted away, obviously.
