Gender has become a phantasm. Not in the ancient Greek sense though, no god-sent miracle, no multisexual prophet, but in the psychoanalytical sense of the word: the imagined, the threatening, the other. In the Christian-authoritarian world, gender is painted as a shadow government or a mental illness, as Western decadence, an exotic fetish, a typographic sign, whatever fits the agenda.
«ur gender / is so cool / can i lick it?» is a video and audio work that tears gender from this projection and redraws it, quoting Daft Punk, Judith Butler or Charli xcx, utilizing hardstyle and techno as a musical reference, as something real, physical, graspable – as something that sometimes is just fun as well.
Go touch some grass and lick a gender.
